This book is a facsimile of a sketchbook by Michel Quarez (1938-2021). Graphic designer and painter, he never stopped placing color at the heart of these two practices which, for him, were one and the same. His countless notebooks were as much spaces for research as for imagination. They attest the power of the figures and signs that fueled the posters that Quarez signed for decades, and which are now part of the history of graphic design.
Conceived with Michel Quarez before his death, this booklet is the last editorial project of the artist. It is co-edited by Fotokino and the Artothèque de Caen on the occasion of the exhibition “MICHEL QUAREZ” at the Artothèque, Espaces d'art contemporain de Caen, from November 27th 2021 to February 26th 2022.
